Description
A thermal interpretation for the cup-shape x-ray appearance of the remnant of SN1006 is investigated and it is shown that the element abundances associated with a Type I supernova may provide an alternative explanation. In particular it is suggested that if confirmation could be obtained that the interior is mostly composed of iron then the 56Ni-56Co-56Fe radioactive interpretation of Type I light curves and the related theoretical interpretation of the explosion itself would be strongly supported.
