Two-photon decay of 2S state of heavy muonic atom

Description

Two-quantum processes in muon atoms of heavy elements, are studied. Diagrams describing two-quantum transitions from one bound state into another bound state, are presented. Matrix elements corresponding to transition digrams are obtained. Radial matrix elements are calculated. According to formulae obtained spectra of continuoUs γ-radiation; accompanying two-quantum decay of 2S-state of muon atoms 124Sb, 208Pb, 238U with different values of the radius of atomic nucleus and dependence of complete probability of decay of 2S-state on the nucleus radius of the above atom, are calculated. With the decrease of nucleus radius the possibility of decay of 2S-state increases. This is connected with the fact that the change of nucleus radius brinas about the change of position of energy levels of the bound muon in the muonic atom. This dependence of the total possibility of two-qUantum 2S-1S transition on the nucleus radius permits to register the alteration in the probability of this process
