Substantiation of pulse neutron logging technique for identification of high absorbers

Description

The Monte Carlo calculations which permit to solve some theoretical problems concerning the pulse enutron logging (PNL) are realized. On the base of the calculation results the regularities in the temporal distribution of the thermal neutrons and radiative capture γ-ray field at a short delay time have been established. The effect of the borehole diameter eccentricity on the PNL readings is clarified. The prospective advantages of a pulse neutron-gamma logging (PNGL) variant at a short delay time is substantiated. The possibility is shown of improving the PNGL effectiveness in case of transition to the spectral variant
