Licensing and regulatory harmonisation

This presentation discusses the licensing and regulatory harmonisation by the United Kingdom Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR). ONR mission is to protect society from the hazards of the nuclear industry, enabling approach to regulation and innovation, to meet the government ambition of net zero by 2050. UK government has new build ambitions. ONR has the responsibility regarding operating reactors, decommissioning reactors, reprocessing, waste facilities and defence sector. There are large amounts of waste and legacy facilities and no final disposal. In the global context there is Inter nation Cooperation and the Environment. There are climate change COP26 targets and beyond. Small Modular Reactors and Advanced Reactors are seen as opportunity to to tackle climate change.
