Description
The paper deals with boiling sodium natural convection flows. The main objective is to present new experimental results obtained with a 19 pin bundle in CEN GRENOBLE. The following items are covered, measurement of two phase pressure drop at low power and stability analysis of low quality boiling, study of the flow excursion leading from low quality boiling to high quality boiling, dependency analysis of low quality boiling stability on the kind of flow transient (slow or fast transient), and analysis of dry out onset at high quality boiling. A model predicting stability limits of low quality boiling is proposed. The model is validated on experimental results and is used for reactor extrapolations
