Jc vs. strain characteristic of Bi-2223 / Ag composite tapes in applied magnetic field

Description
In operative conditions of the most important transport applications of Bi-2223 / Ag superconducting tapes, like cables for power transmission lines and superconducting windings, the tapes will be subjected to mechanical stresses and magnetic fields causing the degradation of their transport properties. In this work they investigated the simultaneous effects of mechanical tensile stress and magnetic fields, up to 140 m T, applied parallel and perpendicular to the tape surface on the critical current density Jc at 77 K of Bi-2223 / Ag composite tapes.
