Fluorine and hydrogen ion irradiation in YBaCuO superconductor

Description

We have investigated the resistivity changes and defect mobility in ion irradiated YBCO superconductors. Room temperature resistance measurement, XRD and SEM were used for characterization. YBCO superconductor thin films with different quality, prepared by inverted cylindrical magnetron sputtering, are irradiated with fluorine, carbon and hydrogen ions at 50-200 keV so that the projected range is longer than the film thickness. The degree of radiation damage during the irradiation was monitored by measuring the room temperature resistance of the sample. The dependence of the room temperature resistivity on ion fluence was measured. The crystal structure of irradiated samples was investigated by XRD measurements. The influence of defects on superconductivity and defect mobility will be discussed. (orig.)
