Pulsed lighter for lighting the working volume of heavy liquid bubble chambers in schemes of lighting at 90 deg C

Description

The suggested pulse illuminator is intended for illumination of the working cavity of the heavy-water bubble chamber in the illumination circuits at an angle of 90 deg C. The illuminator comprises a linear pulse light source and a glass pipe located coaxially with the source. The suggested illuminator differs from the existing ones by the fact that, to reduce the background brightness due to light scattering in the working fluid, a polaroid film is glued onto the upper surface of the glass pipe. This film linearly polarizes light with the electric vector variations mostly directed towards the unput pupil of the photographic device lens. Thus, a better signal-to-noise ratio is obtained, which, in turn, makes it possible to reduce the size of bubbles and, therefore, improve the accuracy of further measurements made on the photograph of the event characteristics
