Magnetic susceptibility of magnetic excitonic semiconductor with nonmagnetic impurities
Description
Exchange interaction between conductivity electrons and localized 4f6 electrons of Sm2+ ions in a Smsub(1-x)Lasub(x)S magnetoexciton semiconductor is considered in the Hartree-Fock approximation; the interaction leads to the non-Heisenberg exchange between Sm2+ ions. The dependences of the shift in the energy of the ground state of the Sm2+ ions and the magnetic su sceptibility on the concentration x of Lasinglet-triplet splitting Δ approximately 400 K. 3+ ions are determined at temperatures below the In the range of small x these dependences are quadratic with respect to x. It is pointed out that the appearance of a small spontaneous moment in Sm2+ ions is possible. The contribution of magnetic impurities in the temperature and concentration dependences of the magnetic susceptibility is discussed qualitatively
