Mobile Microreactorsfor Deployment in Canada's North
- 1. Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (Canada)
Description
Conclusions: • Safety - Develop stability maps defining the stable operation range of coolants for various microreactors. • Security - Explore robotics, UAV and machine learning, for improving the overall security of mobile microreactorswithout significantly increasing the cost for security. • Safeguards - New safeguards approaches are best implemented using "Safeguards by Design". • Transportability - Develop "Type B" transport packaging as well as framework for consultation with Canadian military and regulators. • Waste management - Adapt to new spent fuel waste streams, investigate spent fuel disposal pathways. • Environment - Have agreements in place beforehand with the territories to facilitate rapid deployment, streamline the environmental assessment process.
