Framatome digital reactivity computers: EDF generalizes their use in its NPP units

Description
Reactivity computers are used to perform the zero-power core reactivity measurements required by the nuclear safety authorities when restarting a reactor after fuel loading. After having selected the ARC Advanced Reactivity Computer developed by Framatome to equip its N4 PWR units in 1993, EDF has continued by equipping four 900 MWe class units with this instrument in 1996, and ordered it for three others 900 MWe units and one 1300 MWe unit. The entire EDF nuclear power plant population should be retro-fitted with this digital ARC instrument by 2000
