Description

Proton induced X-ray emission was used for a multi-element analysis of rat liver. Different standard preparation techniques are compared. Subcellular distributions of trace elements are measured for enhanced and reduced trace element input in nutrition (Mn, Cu, Zn, Fe). Statistically significant correlations between Mn concentration and different other elements were found (Rb, Br, Zn, Fe, P); also a good agreement between the Mn-content and enzyme activities (arginase, OCT) of the liver. Data handling and data normalization problems are discussed. (Auth.)
