Stability of (Y,Ca)(Ba,Sr)2Cu3Oy superconductors

Description

The stability of Y1-xCaxBaSrCu3Oy (YCBSCO) superconductors with x=0, 0.1, 0.3 and 0.6 in water and for quenching from high temperature has been studied employing ρ-T measurements, X-ray diffractometry, scanning electron microscopy and pH measurement. The stability of YCBSCO in water and for quenching increased with the Ca content. The tetragonal YCBSCO (x=0.6) sample showed no change in Tc by soaking in water over a period of 1000 h. The tetragonal sample was stable for quenching from 873 to 77 K. Very little change was observed for the surface morphology of the tetragonal sample after water treatment
