The exploitation of the Saturne synchrotron during the first quarter of 1963

Description

After having indicated the time distribution among the various usages and conditions of the Saturne synchrotron during the first quarter of 1963 (available beam, machine studies, start-up, adjustment and maintenance, failures, various lost times) and proposed some more precise data under tabular and graphical form, this document first gives an overview of physics experiments performed by various research teams (use of fixed targets and of a target with radial projection, experiments in a bubble chamber),and then discusses measures, research works, and measurements regarding protection against radiations during the same period. The next part reports the main incidents, works performed on the machine equipment (HF-beam servo-control, magnetic field bearing, beam ejection, injector), studies performed in laboratory (void, sources). The fifth part addresses physics equipment: beam equipment, fixed installations, mobile supplies, electronics, magnetism, intense magnetic fields, liquefactor, film developments, and the CERN hydrogen bubble chamber
