Vent containers

Description

Purpose: To prevent radioactive gases from releasing out of buildings in case of container leakage upon loss of coolants accidents. Constitution: A blower is disposed to a container-atmosphere-vent system, so that radioactivity released directly from the container may be sucked forcively into the vent system and then released by way of filters. Gaseous mixtures sucked by the blower are introduced into a vapor condensation tank, where only the vapors are condensated. A cooling water pipeway is disposed within the tank to increase the condensation rate. Iodine gases which are no-compressible radioactive gases are precipitated and removed in an alkaline water tank filled with an alkaline solution. (Yoshino, Y.)
