  • 1. Clinica Medicina Nuclear Villela Pedras, Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)

Description

The authors present in this work, the research of whole body with I-131(PCI), stimulated by TSH Recombinant (thyrotropin Alpha), in 20 thyroidectomy patients for differentiated carcinomas of the thyroid, maintain the use of the thyroid therapy hormone suppression (THTS). The used method was the whole body research of whole body in the 2nd day after the ingestion from 4 to 5 mCi of I-131, that was preceded by the intramuscular administration of 2 doses of 0,9 mg of thyrotropin alpha (Genzyme Corporation, USES), in subsequent days. The images were acquired, in the whole body system and spots with pin hole, after 48 h of the dose of the I-131, in Gamma-Camera ECAM SIEMENS, with 2 detecting (heads) and collimators of high energy. In 35% of the patients, PCI reveals positive, with abnormal captation of the radioactive Iodine in topography of the thyroid region (local relapse or residue of the thyroid), in metastatic cervical linfonodo and in the bony metastases. We conclude that the monitoring of these differentiated carcinoma in thyroidectomy patient, through PCI using TSH Recombinant, allowed the diagnosis of the relapsed or metastases lesions with safety, without the inconveniences of the suspension of the therapy suppressive hormone
