Research on pion mode by medium energy nucleon transfer reaction

  • 1. Osaka Univ., Ibaraki (Japan). Research Center for Nuclear Physics

Description

As the experiment using 350-400 MeV proton beam at the new facilities of the Research Center for Nuclear Physics, Osaka University, the possibility of the research on pion mode by nucleon transfer (knock-out) reaction such as (p, d), (p, 2p), (n, d) and so on was discussed. All these reactions have the feature that the transferred momentum can be made very small at a certain exciting energy. Whether the form and response of the spectra included in high excitation nuclear reaction are explained by the calculation of the degree of freedom of nucleons, pions and Δ particles and the response function using the spin-isospin type interaction acting among these particles or not is the important subject for understanding the role of pions close to on shell in nuclei. It is intended to study on the mode of motion in nuclei by generating pions close to on shell by nucleon transfer reaction. The example of the ω-q relation in Pb-208 (p, d) Pb-207 reaction is shown. As the theme related to this, it is intended to carry out the research on the deep restrained state of π- of heavy nuclei, which exists mainly on the surface of nuclei. In order to advance these researches, the method of measurement using a spectrograph with high resolution and large solid angle was examined. (K.I.)
