Multiple biliary hamartomas or von Meyenburg complexes: US and CT study

  • 1. Hospital Virgen del Camino. Pamplona (Spain)

Description

Multiple biliary hamartomas or von Meyenburg complexes, are relatively common findings in necropsy studies, but are much less frequently diagnosed by radiology. We present two new cases of this entity, one involving totally cystic lesions and the other in which ultrasound disclosed the presence of echogenic masses. Of the two variants, the latter is less frequently reported in the literature= . In the differential diagnosis of multiple nodules detected by ultrasound or computed tomography, the possible presence of biliary hamartomas should be considered. 9 refs
