Comparison of Mg L23 edges in MgO and Mg(OH)2-Importance of medium-range structure

Description
Mg L23-edge electron energy-loss near-edge structure in Mg(OH)2 was studied experimentally and theoretically for comparison with that of MgO. The differences in the near-edge fine structure between Mg(OH)2 and MgO were interpreted as a result of differences in medium-range structure.
