Centrifugal extractor
Description
This invention concerns a centrifugal extractor suitable to the use for re-processing spent nuclear fuels. In the conventional rotational body, since blades have a propeller shape, liquid are rotated largely as a whole and two liquids are mixed roughly and liquid droplet has a large diameter. Accordingly, the area of contact between an organic solvent and a nitrate solution is small and the extracting efficiency and rate were low. In view of the above, the blade portion for stirring the liquid is replaced with a plurality of fine rods in the present invention. As a result, since a plurality of fine rods are passed through the liquid under stirring, the liquid mixture undergoes mechanical sharing forces and is emulsified. Accordingly. the area of contact between the organic solvent and the nitrate solution can be increased, and extraction can be conducted efficiently at a high speed. (T.M.)
