Description
The possibility of using laser radiation at a power density of approximately 104-1O5 W/cm2 to achieve considerable strengthening of cast-iron parts is demonstrated. In the treatment zones there is a reduction in the amount of α phase, an increase in cementite content and the appearance of a large amount of γ phase. After treatment with a laser beam there is also a substantial increase in the wear resistance of the cast-iron parts. (author)
