The effects of α-particle irradiation fluence on N implanted compounds in low carbon steel

  • 1. Rio Grande do Sul Univ., Porto Alegre (Brazil). Inst. de Fisica

Description

Dissolution and reprecipitation of carbonitrides obtained by N2+ implanted 1020 low carbon steel and α-post-implanted are followed by Conversion Electrons Spectroscopy (CEMS). The results show that N diffusion depends on the type of carbonitride precipitates and the matrix that contains these precipitates. It was also determined the existence of a definite interval of α fluences where the retention effect of the carbonitrides was more effective. (orig.)
