Determination of the isotope shift of sup(115m)Cd by a Zeeman scanning method
Description
We have used an optical pumpin-Zeeman scanning technique in order to determine the isotope shift in the 3.261 A resonance line of 43-day, spin-11/2 sup(115m)Cd. A sample of approximately 5 x 1012 atoms was aligned in the 1S0 diamagnetic ground state. By Zeeman scanning the F = 9/2 component of the 3P1 level and using previously determined A- and B-values, we find delta v(114-115 m (9/2)) = -4.234(48) MHz and 114Cd - sup(115m)Cd isotope shift = 87(48) MHz. We calculate a staggering parameter γ(115sup(m)Cd) = 0.73(26), and a change in mean-square nuclear charge radius delta[r2]sup(114,115m) = 0.035(18) fm2. (orig./WBU)

Die Isotopierverschiebung in der 3,261 A-Resonanzlinie von sup(115m)Cd (Halbwertzeit 43 Tage, Spin 11/2) wurde durch Zeeman-Scanning mit optischem Pumpen bestimmt. Eine Probe von ungefaehr 5 x 1012 Atomen wurde im diamagnetischen Grundzustand 1S0 ausgerichtet. Durch Zeeman-Scanning der F = 9/2-Komponente des 3P1-Niveaus und die Verwendung vorher bestimmter A- und B-Werte erhalten wir delta v(114-115 m (9/2)) = -4,234(48) MHz und 114Cd - sup(115m)Cd-Isotopieverschiebung = 87(48) MHz. Wir berechnen einen Staggerparameter γ(sup(115m)Cd) = 0,73(26) und eine Veraenderung im mittleren Quadrat des Kernladungsradius delta[r2]sup(114, 115m) = 0,035(18) fm2. (orig./AK)Additional details
