Electric and magnetic properties of Yb-(Pt, Pd)-(GeSi) intermetallides

Description
New ternary compounds on the ytterbium base YbPd2Ge, YbPd2Si, YbPdGe, YbPdSi, YbPtGe, YbPd2Ge2 and known compound YbPdSi2 were obtained and investigated. Results of measuring the electric resistivity and magnetic susceptibility in the 4.2-300 K range are presented. It is found that YbPdGe, YbPtGe, YbPd2Ge at low temperatures have magnetic phase transitions, investigations of which testify to dominant contribution of ferromagnetic ordering. The investigation results testify also to substantial effect of ytterbium crystalline environment on the physical properties of compounds under study
