Development of systems for measuring moisture in metallurgical raw materials
Description
The development is described of a system for the measurement of specific moisture content of coke charged in a blast furnace. In order that sufficient accuracy should be reached, coke moisture should be measured from the slowing down of 241Am/Be fast neutrons simultaneously with specific density measured using 137Cs gamma radiation. The measurement is controlled with a microcomputer which transfers the results to a process control computer. It was verified in service that the accuracy of the system developed is 1.1% of specific moisture. The development of gauges for the measurement of moisture of sintering mixtures has not yet been finished. (Ha)
