Industrial and analytical applications of radioisotope radiation sources
Description
A condensed summary is given of the large number of different applications to which sealed radiation sources are being applied to industrial measurement and control problems. Analytical: X-ray fluorescence analysis, neutron activation analysis, Moessbauer spectroscopy, electron capture detectors. Gauging: beta/gamma backscatter, neutron/gamma beltweighing, neutron moisture, beta/neutron/gamma transmission, gamma selective-absorption, neutron multiplication. Radiography: beta, gamma, neutron. Alarms: gamma switching, smoke detectors. Ionization: radiation processing, static eliminators, medical therapy. Schematic diagrams are given. (T.G.)
