Uses of nuclear energy in metallurgy - research and development

Description
Metallurgy is one of the biggest energy consumers. Saving fossil fuels for other than power uses and the endeavour to improve the living environment are the main motivations for efforts to use nuclear energy in iron and steel production. The possibilities are considered of the use of high-temperature gas cooled reactors as heat sources for metallurgy and examples of such procedure in Japan are given. (F.M.)
