Magnetic properties of YCo4-xFexB compounds

  • 1. Central Inst. of Physics, Bucharest (Romania)

Description

The crystal structure and the magnetic properties of the YCo4-xFexB system have been studied. In the composition range x ≤ 1.5 the compounds crystallize in the hexagonal structure. For x ≥ 2.0 the system contains two phases Y2(FeCo)14B and Y(FeCo)4B4. The composition dependences of the lattice parameters a and c are given. Magnetic measurements of spontaneous magnetizations, Curie temperatures, and mean cobalt moments as functions of chemical composition were performed. It can be concluded that the cobalt moments in YCo4-xFexB are sensitive to the exchange interactions
