Moessbauer and magnetic investigations of iron-rich Fe-Ni-Zr amorphous alloys

Description
Moessbauer, high-field susceptibility, and thermomagnetic measurements indicate a correlation between reentrant spin glass (RSG)-like behaviour and the presence of a broad hyperfine magnetic field distribution of Fe92-xNixZr8 glasses. The pure iron area, in which the competition between antiferromagnetic and ferromagnetic exchange takes place, is probably responsible for both. There is a transition from collinear to noncollinear magnetic structure at low temperatures for x = 0, 2, 5 due to this competition. The substitution of Ni for Fe or the hydrogenation suppresses the RSG-like behaviour. (orig.)
