Description
We examine the electromagnetic interactions of the fermion-vortex system and elucidate how photons can charge the vortex and surrounding vacuum via the anomaly. We find that the charge of the fermions trapped on the vortex is anti-screened by vacuum polarization so that external electromagnetic fields fall off more slowly than 1/r. (orig.)
