PG and E upgrades radiation monitoring [at nuclear power plant]
Description
The change to modern, solid state, digital systems is increasingly being seen as necessary to ensure reliable operation and reduce downtime. The largest retrofitting contract of this type to be awarded in recent years was won by Victoreen (US), and is for upgrading radiation measurement systems at Pacific Gas and Electric's Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant. The Radiation Monitoring and Data Acquisition System will include gaseous, liquid and area monitoring subsystems, with independent local control and connections via datalinks to a central radiation processor.
