Improving spent fuel racks with an aluminium-based neutron absorber
Creators
Description
A new poison replacement system for PWR spent fuel storage racks has been developed. It consists of a series of Flux Trap Liners, fabricated primarily of Boral, that are inserted into the water chambers between rack storage cells. They provide the capability to store higher than contemplated enrichment fuel and can also prolong the active service life of storage racks with deteriorating neutron absorbers. (author)
