Radiation myelopathy
Description
The increasing occurence of radiation myelopathy in the last few decades is discussed. The number of myelopathies due to ionizing radiation increases with the increasingly intensive radiation sources available. The course of the disease is described, as are pathological-anatomical signs, diagnosis, diagnostic aids, and pathogenesis. The therapy of radiation myelopathy is limited to symptomatic alleviation of pain and treatment of functional losses in the myokinetic system with the emphasis on prophylaxis. (orig./VJ)
