Thermonuclear device
Description
Purpose: To tightly support large super conductive toroidal coils while decreasing the intrusion of circumferential heat. Constitution: A low temperature base for supporting super conductive toroidal coils in a cryogenic state by way of a support is supported by suspending way from a high temperature base with a support member composed of a laminated plate made of carbon fiber-reinforced synthetic resin. The suspension support is employed utilizing the nature of the laminated synthetic resin plate that it is strong to tensile stresses although weak to compression stresses. The cross sectional area of the synthetic resin support member can be decreased by making the support in a hollow configuration, whereby intrusion of heat can be decreased. (Ikeda, J.)
