Vibrational states in 178 Hf

Description
The energies and wave functions of vibrational states below 2.3 MeV in 178 Hf are calculated within the quasiparticle-phonon nuclear model. The calculated energies and the large two-quasiparticle components of the wave functions and E2 and E3 transition rates are found in agreement with relevant experimental data. The predictions are made. It is shown that the wave functions of the first five O+ states in 178 Hf have dominant one-phonon term and the contribution of the doubly gamma-vibrational configuration is very small. It is shown that small two-phonon configurations lead to the large changes of the E2 transition rates between 0+ and gamma-vibrational state. It is found that there is no cardinal disagreement between the experimental data in rare earth or actinide regions and the general affirmance of the quasiparticle-phonon nuclear model
