Superdeformation of fast rotating nuclei

Description
Calculations within the Liquid Drop Model (LDM) leading to stable superdeformed shapes of light nuclei are shown. Possible ways of deexcitation of these nuclei formed in Heavy Ion Collisions are discussed. In addition calculations using the folding potential and their comparison with a LDM idealization are presented. (orig.)
