Simultaneous determination of uranium and thorium by delayed neutrons, using different relations between fast and thermal neutron flux
Description
The uranium and thorium simultaneous determination method by delayed neutrons, established in TRIGA IPR-R1 reactor, is based in the elements discrimination by difference between fast and thermal neutron flux relations. This method was tested in determination of U3O8 and ThO2 contents in IAEA samples, which were irradiated in different neutron flux positions and cadmium was used as thermal neutron filter. (Author)

O metodo para a determinacao simultanea de uranio e torio por neutrons retardados, implantado no reator Triga IPR-R1, e baseado na discriminacao destes elementos, pela diferenca entre relacoes de fluxo de neutrons rapidos e termicos. Este metodo foi testado na determinacao dos teores de U3O8 e ThO2 em amostras da Agencia Internacional de Energia Atomica (AIEA), que foram irradiadas em diferentes posicoes de fluxo de neutrons, empregando cadmio como filtro de neutrons termicos.
