Technical report on the compton profile apparatus with 241Am gamma-ray source
Description
This is a technical report on the γ-ray Compton profile apparatus using 241Am γ-ray source. Quantitative considerations are given, first, to the effects of the scattering angle and its divergence on the instrumental resolution, for incident γ-ray energies up to 500 keV. Details of the construction of the apparatus is then described. In order to decrease the instability in the electronic circuit, a ''digital-spectrum-stabilizer'' was connected to the multi-channel-analyzer, and is found to function satisfactorily. A Compton profile of metallic magnesium obtained is reported as an example. (author)
