Description
In this work yttrium iron garnet (Y3Fe5O19) powders have been prepared via mechanochemical processing and subsequent heat treatments, using Y2O3, FeCl3 and Na2CO3 as raw materials. X ray diffraction spectrum of the milled powder shows that the garnet phase has not been formed. XRD pattern of the powder annealed at 950degreeC shows only two phases of NaCl and (Y3Fe5O19). The unwanted NaCl phase was removed from the annealed powder by washing the powder with distilled water.
