Alpha emission with 10 MeV/A 14N projectiles
- 1. Birmingham Univ. (UK). Dept. of Physics
Description
Beams of 148 MeV 14N were used to bombard targets of 58Ni, 27Al and 12C. The heavy ejectiles (Z=3-8) were detected at thetasub(HI)=130, close to the grazing angle for the reaction 14N + 58Ni and also at thetasub(HI)=260. Coincident alpha particles were detected in coplanar geometry. The measured quantities were the α-HI correlations - d4sigma(Esub(HI), Esub(α), thetasub(HI), thetasub(α)) as a function of Z and the corresponding singles cross sections - d2sigma(Esub(HI), thetasub(HI)) and d2sigma(Esub(α), thetasub(α)). The contributions from carbon and oxygen impurities have been carefully investigated
