Orientation effects in intensity and polarization of γ-radiation emitted by 1 GeV electrons in single crystals

  • 1. Inst. of Physics and Tech., Kharkov (USSR)

Description

Experimental data on the orientation behaviour of hard photon yields near the bremsstrahlung spectrum boundary when high energy electrons pass through single crystal targets are given. This behaviour is shown to be connected with the orientation effect in close encounters and multiple scattering of electrons. The data on the degree of linear polarization of the γ-quanta at the bremsstrahlung boundary and in the coherence region under the conditions violating the coherent bremsstrahlung theory are given. These beams are shown to be an efficient tool for photonuclear studies. (orig.)
