Decommissioning plan INB Nr. 75: Fessenheim

Description

After a synthetic version and a brief presentation of the installation and of the strategy chosen for its decommissioning, this report presents some generalities on decommissioning (guiding principles, arrangements issued for design and lessons learned, history safeguarding and data accessibility, maintenance of expertise and knowledge of the installation, assessment of waste quantities and management modalities, innovation and R and D, characterisations to be performed, management of the fuel present after stoppage). It describes the decommissioning process: preparatory operations, definition of decommissioning steps, agenda and duration, description of foreseen works, identification of new equipment to be built, identification of different objectives (regarding nuclear safety, radiation protection and the environment), risk and release management, methodologies of decontamination of structures and soils, organisation of the management of decommissioning operations, justification of technical choices with respect to the protection of interests. It finally describes the envisaged final status of the site
