Kinetics of autocatalytic reaction of ammonium hexachlororuthenate (4) reduction by hydrogen in chloride solutions

  • 1. Leningradskij Tekhnologicheskij Inst. (USSR)

Description

A study has been made into the effect of concentrations of ruthenium (3), ruthenium (4), hydrogen, and hydrochloric acid on the kinetics of reduction of ammonium hexachlororuthenate (4) with hydrogen. It has been established that the rate-determining steps of the reaction are the interactions of ruthenium (3) with hydrogen and ruthenium (4) with an active complex of ruthenium (3). A kinetic equation has been derived, and the kinetic parameters of the reaction have been defined. The hypothesis of heterolytic dissociation of the hydrogen molecule by ruthenium (3) has been corroborated
