Fourth decennial inspection of 900 MW reactors. The vessel strength
Description
This note aims at briefly presenting and commenting extracts of significant texts published by the IRSN about possible defects of some reactor vessels, as well as about the brittleness increase for all vessels due to their ageing. It presents the available documentation, comments the process of radiation-induced ageing of 900 MW reactor vessels, discusses the content of an opinion published by the IRSN on the vessel strength, and of another opinion about the vessels in relationship with the fourth decennial inspection (and more particularly core shells). Opinions and comments issued by other bodies (ASN, group of experts) are also mentioned and commented
