Adsorbent for Sr ion

Description

Tetravalent metal phosphate represented by the chemical formula: Hx M2-x1M2(PO4)2·nH2O (wherein M1 represents at least one cation selected from Li, Na, K and NH4, M2 represents at least one tetravalent metal ion selected from the group consisting of Zr, Ti and Sn, x is a number of 0 or greater but not greater than 1.8, and n is a number of 0 or greater but not greater than 8) is used as a Sr ion adsorbent. The adsorbent exhibits excellent Sr ion adsorbing performance in an aqueous solution in which alkaline earth metal ions are coexistent. The adsorbent is effective for processing Si ion-containing liquid wastes discharged from nuclear power facilities such as a nuclear fuel reprocessing plant. (T.M.)
