Space-time peculiarities of solar cosmic ray penetration in high-latitude regions of the Earth magnetosphere according to the data of the Interkosmos-19 satellite

Description

Increases in the solar cosmic ray (SCR) proton intensity with Esub(p)=0.5-8.0 MeV in the polar zones are analyzed in course of a strong magnetic storm of the 3d-5th April 1979. Penetration of SCR protons is studied together with the dynamics of position of high-latitude boundary of capture of electrons with energies of Esub(e)=0.3-0.6, Esub(e)=0.6-0.9 and Esub(e)>0.1 MeV. Fluctuations of the boundary position in different regions of penetration are revealed as well as fast pulsations (a period of approximatety 15-20 s) of protons. Data on particles are compared with magnetometer readings. Good correlation between pulsation periods of penetrating protons and the real geomagnetic field is noted. Possible mechanisms of observed peculiarities of SCR penetration are under discussion
