What will be done with the fuel elements of the Budapest Research Reactor

Description
The paper summarizes the history of the Budapest research reactor concentrating on the fuel elements. The spent fuel elements are temporarily stored in an underwater facility to ensure cooling and radiation protection. In the second phase, when it does not need intensive cooling, the fuel elements were inserted into a steel capsule filled with inert gas. The capsule were still stored underwater for radiation protection reasons. Finally the spent fuel elements have been transported to Russia for final deposit.
