The current status of inelastic scattering of heavy ions to giant resonances

Description
Experimental data on inelastic scattering of heavy ions to giant resonances are discussed in terms of variation with energy and projectiles. The continuum contribution appears to be very large and dependent on projectile and/or energy of the projectiles. DWBA analysis are rather consistent for the GQR. Finally the conditions which determine the magnitude of the cross-section are discussed and DWBA predictions are compared for different projectile energies
