Multiwire counter at 5% energy resolution for recording 5,9 keV photons
Description
A method is described for measuring photon spectrum by a co-ordinate multiwire gas detector which permits to reconstruct spectra with the co-ordinate resolution about 0.5 mm and the energy resolution of 5 %, min. in the 1 to 10 keV energy range. A required spectrum was reconstructed from the measured law of radiation attenuation in the detector volume with the use of the maximum likelihood fit. The energy resolution in this spectrum reconstruction method depends only on the total number of detected pulses and is almost twice as high as the resolution of the gas co-ordinate scintillation counters
