Description

Measurements of spin-spin relaxation time, T2, and spin-lattice relaxation, T1, have been performed on the 139La nucleus in the NQR regime in samples of the type La2-xSrxCuO4-y as a function of temperature and of composition (x and y). An anomalously fast relaxation has been evidence at high temperature for x∼0 and y∼0. Furthermore, a peak in T1-1 and T2-1 has been detected around 10 K which is strongly composition dependent. Various relaxation mechanisms are discussed also in view of the possible existence in these systems of peculiar excitations associated to a resonance valence bond state (RVB)
